Metrics: Includes the frequency and duration of app usage.
Privacy First: No data is collected about the contents of the app or website. Data is encrypted during transmission.
Apps Scheduler Phone (AS phone): This mobile application is available for free from Play Store or App Store (coming soon). Research participants can sign in using the unique study id and participant id provided by their researchers.
Apps Scheduler Web (AS web): Researchers can conduct their studies on this web platform. Researchers specify unique research study id and participant id for each participant to sign up.
Reporting: There are several ways to obtain phone usage data. One, research participants can manually self-report their phone data to AS web. Two, participants can allow auto-reporting of data on a daily basis to AS web. Three, they can send a .csv file to their researchers via emails or messaging apps.
Analysis: Data is automatically analyzed for each study group in terms of study metrics (e.g., total apps tracked, top apps, duration by category, etc.) and for individual participant (e.g., app ranking, app blocks, daily duration graphs, partial-interval records of usage, etc.).
Export: All data can be downloaded from AS web in .csv format, including raw and analyzed data.
Confidentiality: Security features include encryption, verification of phone number, and use of unique ids. No identifying information is collected by Apps Scheduler.
Current Limits
The free-to-use, as-is version is currently available on Android phones and restricted to one researcher/study with 20 or fewer participants.
